Original garments designed and made by Janice Heitbaum

Gretel modelling a tabard, pull on pants and hat. Fabric: black cotton, discharged and embellished with foils, machine embroidery and glitter wax stick.

 

Gretel models pants with a wrap around skirt attachment, t-shirt and hat. fabrics: skirt/pants and hat are homespun; t-shirt - cotton knit. Homespun has been pole-wrapped, dyed, discharged, over-dyed, embellished with machine embroidery, glitter wax stick and foils.

 

Kimono: Strip construction from Japanese cotton fabrics, antique obi, silk and other cotton fabrics. It is lined with Thai silk and embroidered, and is totally reversible. SOLD

 

The Waterlily Outfit: Wrap around pants, waist coat and bag. fabrics: black voile discharged, over-dyed, screen printed and machine embroidered. The t-shirt features machine embroidered waterlilies. SOLD

 

 

Guatemalan Outfit: Coat, head-band and bag. Fabric: Hand woven cotton Guatemalan ikat fabric. Black jeans have been discharge dyed.

Janice is wearing the Blue Patch outfit featuring jacket, pants and t-shirt. fabrics: Calico, dyed, folded, discharged, folded, over-dyed, folded, screen printed and embroidered. The t-shirt is embroidered cotton knit and the jacket is lined with purple taffeta.

 

Rosella Outfit: Long culottes, embroidered t-shirt, unlined jacket and hat. Fabric: homespun, dyed, printed with rosellas, over-dyed, embroidered and glitter was stick application. The jacket yoke has been created from several layers of different fabrics, embroidered, cut back, embroidered again etc. to create the desired effect. The hat features bias ribbons. SOLD

The Coat of Many Colours: Constructed from corduroys - old and new (many old fabrics from clothes that my mother had made for my sister and me). The coat is lined with silk and is warm and comfortable. There is a matching hat, bag and back-pack. The coat and back-pack are my favourite winter garments.

 

    

1. Plumb and aqua Outfit: Coat, hat and bag. 2. Rainbow Kimono. Both garments have been constructed from disperse dyed polyester fabric. They are both quilted over light weight batting and lined with Bem silk.

 

Yellow Silk Outfit: The silk was hand dyed and the garment hand woven by Janice and is an original design. The front features leather strips woven in.

 

 

The Flora Dress: Fabric: Black voile - tabard style, worn over pull on black pants featuring embroidered cuffs. The dress features Australian Flora machine appliquéd designs - originals by Janice.
